What are they made of?
They are made with remnants of the ceramic industry that range as far back as a few hundred years. I collect anything that catches my eye.

Do you find them like that or do you break them?
I never break any of the pieces, what you see is what you get.

Why did they wash up?
The ships that were importing and exporting were using broken plates for balance (ballast) and would dump them overboard when they were finished with them. Other types of remnants would be from the industry itself and regular people tossing broken pottery where they'd leave their garbage (backyard, etc.).
